", but the fibres are attacked by acids" (problems with acidity in water biodegrading glass)(cement causes acidity in water due to the lime component)...wikipedia entry on asbestos,(follow that to) to entry on Chrysotile...

"2Mg3Si2O5(OH)4   →   3Mg2SiO4 + SiO2 + 4H2O": when chrysotile biodegrades due to proximity of cement

washed by rainwater into our lake ontario system, it separates into silicon, magnesium & water...

Thus weakening all our glass windows & glass walls & glass atriums (think the AGO art gallery of ontario remodel & the ROM royal ontario museum remodel)...

Which is why we should stop building cement buildings in ontario...Also why people in glass houses should be

scared...

The soundtrack is a song called Avalanche Buffalo that I wrote & performed using GarageBand on a Mac... (when I discovered that I couldn't use other people's music for sound in my videos, I decided to write & perform & record a bunch of songs that I could use as I please...)

Swanne, the sculpture, is still a work in progress, as you can see in the video...It is 7o by 30 by 30 inches...

The finishing layers, which I show in the video, are made of a mix I made up: 2 parts white portland cement, 1 part aragonite sand, 1 part silica white sand, 1 part 3/4 inch chopped glass strand. 1 part perlite, 1 part water, 1 part cement bond admixture, (the add to taste more cement bond liquid if it is still too dry)...

here's a comment I wrote tonight at artbizblog.com

Know yourself...To thine own self be true...be secure in who you are...Know how to define your own parameters...Know what you are willing to do & what you are not willing to do...If you first have a clear definition of who you are, then the future becomes just a realization of the actualization of your present...be yourself every day, & in the future you will achieve the harvest of all of those little days put together...The future is like the past- it is really the tiny moments where you are most yourself that you see as successes, either forwards or backwards...Write a list of your favorite things to do, then plan on doing them...Now you can see the future better...

Straw & hay are not the same thing...Waterbirds know the difference between food & large colourful silicon based items which are consistent in material with sand...The nests are called technically "artificial nests" not fake, & the beach is where Trumpeter swans nest...The artificial nests are designed of biodegradable material on purpose, as are real nests...The mess & litter on the beach is from human debris not waterbird nests...The Silly Bandz are identification bands which needed to be put on of necessity due to the fact that many humans in Canada are apparently not aware that it is federally illegal to destroy a nest or nesting habitat, which is why ornithological groups are stepping in internationally to repair already created willful destruction of waterbird nests...But thank you for asking...

p.s. straw is a magnesium component when it degrades, which when c=it comes into contact with moisture, cleanses our waterways of mercury, which is the result of incinerations of solid waste from sewage treatment plants entering our Lake Ontario...The straw actually cleans our drinking water by adding magnesium, so the nests are dual purpose, at least...http://groveontario.wordpress.com
